"Crazy Quilt" by B. LaSala Marsh © 1990

We so enjoy art, and the abstract painting of Crazy Quilt (depicted left) is especially meaningful to us. It is a watercolor painted by Deborah’s mother, Bobbie LaSala Marsh, and it features a complex interplay of colors, shapes, sizes, and textural backgrounds. Many might say that art is an individual matter. As is often the case, an individual viewing artwork may see it differently from another. We may be drawn to a piece of artwork or we may not understand it at all. But that is one of the wonderful, beautiful things about art.

Concerning Crazy Quilt, Ms. Marsh recently noted, “The random mix of shapes and sizes found in the painting represent people with their unique qualities of both strength and weakness and is an expression of the tension between chaos and orderliness, an expression of hope for good health and wellbeing.” When we feel distraught, overwhelmed, or deficient amid the chaos of this world, we also can know there is potential for order, emotional regulation, and positive mental health. Such potential, however, necessitates the help of others. We are wired for community. At Robertson Counseling & Therapy, we hope to be part of your professional community. We aspire to help guide and equip you to achieve emotional regulation, resilience, personal growth, and better mental health.
